“Cinema at Sunset” Film Festival

BASWA and George Eastman House present "Cinema at Sunset", a 5 day classic film festival to be held at the Highland Bowl starting Tuesday August 26 and running through Saturday August 30th. Films will be broadcast in 35mm reel to reel onto a 45’ x 18’ theatre screen.

Gates open at 5:30 PM, and each night we'll feature warm up music by local musicians such as the Hi Risers, Ancient Youth, Gordon Munding and Curtis Waterman, and others. Music runs from 6:00 to 7:15, followed by shorts and animations from the Eastman collection. Each feature film will be introduced by curators from the Eastman Film Department. Features will start at dusk or by 8:00 PM. Rain Location: The Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House.

Feature Films are:

  • Tuesday: "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) (Music by NPV)
  • Wednesday: "Manhattan" (1979) (Music by The Darryl Parker Quartet)
  • Thursday: "North by Northwest" (1959) (Music by Bobby Henrie & the Goners)
  • Friday: "American Graffiti" (1973) PLUS: bring your classic car to the bowl for our “Cruise-In” on Friday night! (Music by The Hi-Risers)
  • Saturday: Double Feature Scary Movie Night! "The Black Cat" (1934) and "The Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) (Music by Ancient Youth Trio; and Gordon Munding & Curtis Waterman)

Concessions will feature food and beverages offered by local businesses. Bring a picnic or sample our concessions. (Please - no beverages of any kind brought in, food only).

We encourage you to park at Highland Hospital, School 12 or RCN for a small donation to these organizations, or utilize our shuttle from Al Sigl Center for $1.
